The Swing & Splash junior camp will be conducting 10 weeks of camp meeting every Monday-Thursday. It is designed for beginners to intermediate level students who want an educational learning experience in an enjoyable environment. The tennis camp introduces the fundamentals of the game and incorporate these skills into fun and exciting games, drills, and contests. It is a tennis camp but also allows for EXTENDED DAY students to jump in the pool for "free swim" as well as participate in additional sport activities and/or arts & crafts to finish the day.
The curriculum is designed to provide a basic foundation of tennis skills for all children ages 5-14. Upon check-in all children will be assigned a staff pro (and counselor for young ones) who will coach and monitor them throughout the week. Children will also be assigned to a team (designated by colored wrisitbands) where they will accrue points and challenge other teams. It all ends in a fun and friendly competition on Thursday. During the week our pros develop skills such as improved athleticism, eye-hand coordination, and proper grips and swing planes. These newly acquired skills learned before lunch will be applied into fun games and team competitions after lunch.
Children are assigned and grouped to courts/coach by primarily using age first and ability second.
Extended day campers need to bring a backpack with swimsuit, towel, and sandals (optional). Students can change back into their original clothes or pack a change of clothes for post-swim activities. Counselors will be on-hand to assist with the younger campers.
Extended Day campers will also be fed an NBTC provided snack between 2:30-3:00pm each day.
All campers need to wear tennis shoes (no black soles) and bring a tennis racquet ( We do lend out racquets for those who do not have one).
We recommend wearing sunscreen and a hat. Our counselors do offer and apply sunscreen during the course of the day to all their assigned students. Water is on all courts.
The maximum ratio of students to instructor is 8-1 but typically it is lower than that with a second staff member on most courts.
An NBTC provided hot lunch is provided each day. Most dietary needs can be accomodated but we are some what limited with gluten free options.
